Marcus Schabacker, MD, PhD
Dr. Schabacker brings years of international health care experience to the Board and expertise in leading, designing, managing, and guiding organizations to deliver results. With more than 20 years of experience, including 10 plus years in senior leadership positions in both the medical device and pharmaceutical industries, he has served internationally on three continents.
Currently, Dr. Schabacker serves as Vice President of Research and Development, Medical Products for Baxter International, where he is charged with aligning R&D and commercial opportunities to accelerate growth for Medical Products. Previously, Dr. Schabacker served as Chief Scientific Officer and Senior Vice President for Science and Innovation at ConvaTec Inc., where he had global responsibility for Research and Development, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Management, Occupational Health, Environmental Health and Safety, Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Security, Facilities and Real Estate. He also led the company’s Program Management Office and Business Risk Management Process. Earlier in his career, Dr. Schabacker served at B. Braun Medical Inc. as Corporate Vice President, Research and Development, Regulatory and Medical Affairs, Pre-clinical and Clinical Research, and as Medical Director. He also has experience working with BioTech start-up companies and private equity firms. In addition to his Doctor of Medicine, Dr. Schabacker has a PhD in Anesthesia and certifications in Disaster Medicine and Emergency Medicine.
Greg Betzler
Mr. Betzler was the CEO and co-owner of a state-of-the-art, precision manufacturing company for 30 years, serving the high-tech computer (Silicon Valley) and medical device industries. Specifically, Mr. Betzler’s company specialized in the manufacture of titanium implants (primarily spinal) and surgical instruments for many of the world's largest Orthopedic OEM's. The company was ISO 9002 and ISO 13485 certified for manufacturing medical devices, controlling the complete manufacturing process of complex components and assemblies from certified raw materials. In 2006, his company was sold to a private equity group. His unique manufacturing knowledge within highly regulated industries (FDA), provides a useful perspective for Board decisions.
John Blair
Mr. Blair’s investment banking expertise is a direct result of his 30 years of experience in the securities industry. He has continually held leadership positions within the industry and his network of affiliates has been invaluable to Invisible Sentinel. Currently, he serves as a Senior Trader for the Investment Bank, Credit Suisse, a position he has held for over 14 years. Mr. Blair completed a Bachelors Degree in Economics and an M.B.A from the University of Southern California. Mr. Blair’s securities experience and networking skills will continue to be valuable to Invisible Sentinel.
Roger Hochstin
Mr. Hochstin served as a member of the New York Stock Exchange for nearly 50 years. His unique perspective in business relations and vast network of affiliates and colleagues has proved to be an asset for Invisible Sentinel. Mr. Hochstin was a founding partner in the firm Hochstin Jakobson, a member of the NYSE. During this time, he also served as the only rights specialist on the NYSE for over 25 years. Other important industry positions include serving as a member of the Board of Directors for Glaceau, Inc. His term on the board culminated with the sale of Glaceau to Coca Cola for $4.1 billion in 2007. Mr. Hochstin’s board experience and financial expertise will continue to be valuable to Invisible Sentinel.
Benjamin Pascal, MBA, Chief Executive Officer, Invisible Sentinel
Benjamin Pascal co-founded Invisible Sentinel in late 2006 and has worked diligently to increase value, advancing the Company’s interests both domestically and abroad. As CEO, Mr. Pascal draws from first-hand experience in the successful development and launch of new clinical devices in the medical device industry, including the coordination of a multi-disciplinary team for the development of B. Braun Medical’s first antimicrobial medical device–for which he was listed as an inventor on a corresponding patent. He was recruited by B. Braun to take part in the company’s Rotational Development Program. As the first American selected, he was nominated to submit for the Global Innovator of the Year from a field of more than 20,000 employees. Previously, Mr. Pascal gained experience at the National Institute for Medical Research in London where he participated in designing a functional cellular vaccine against malaria. He has been on market launch teams and has manufacturing and validation experience with bio-products not unlike Invisible Sentinel’s technology. Mr. Pascal graduated with honors from The George Washington University with concentrations in Biology and Political Science and completed his MBA at Lehigh University.
Nicholas Siciliano, Chief Operating Officer, Invisible Sentinel
Since co-founding Invisible Sentinel in 2006, Mr. Siciliano has been aggressively working to advance the Company’s research initiatives and optimize operations of its laboratory facilities. As COO, Mr. Siciliano draws on his more than 10 years of experience in research and lab management and his strong background in Microbiology and Immunology. Mr. Siciliano previously studied host-pathogen interactions with an emphasis on bacterial pathogenesis and the link between innate and adaptive immunity. He has successfully developed several antibody-based assays and has consulted on numerous projects in the fields of bacteriology, immunology, and antibody design. He was instrumental in designing our novel flow‐thru system and is the lead author on all of Invisible Sentinel’s non-provisional, PCT, and provisional patent applications. Mr. Siciliano received his scientific training at Villanova University (Bachelors of Chemistry) and began his biomedical research career at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School—where he spent several years performing independent research and managing a bacterial pathogenesis lab.
