How Our Sentinel Technologies Work
Our patent-pending Sentinel Immuno-Technology and Sentinel Flow-Technology are discriminatory and only signal the presence of specific foodborne bacterial pathogens. Our current platforms are directed against the four most prevalent foodborne bacterial pathogens—E. coli O157:H7, Listeria monocytogenes, Campylobacter jejuni, and Salmonella enterica—and were designed to eliminate false-positives from non-pathogenic bacterial species that may be present, but are harmless.
Our Sentinel Platform Designs
To address the particular needs of different markets and applications, we have incorporated our Sentinel technologies into a suite of four distinct product designs. All four systems use the patent-pending Sentinel Flow-Technology. Each design provides accurate, rapid results of microbial contamination. Plus, all Sentinel assays are compatible with a visual or digital read-out.
The Cartridge Sentinel: This design is intended for easy, practical use in industrial or environmental settings. When implemented, this design will offer an impressive advancement over existing on-site diagnostics for the food industry.
- The Cartridge Sentinel: We expect our Cartridge Sentinel to be ideal for sampling within a food manufacturing or processing facility—at the point of process. Small and light enough to fit in your hand or pocket, the Cartridge Sentinel is compatible with current industry sampling methods. Its user requirements are consistent with current quality control protocols within the food industry and mirror sampling techniques used in microbial culturing.
The Desktop Sentinel: This practical design provides a cost-effective, and ultra-reliable platform for facilities with higher sampling rates.
- The Desktop Sentinel: The Desktop Sentinel is intended for sampling in facilities where frequent testing is required. When adopted, it will be ideal for use at manufacturing or processing plants with multiple quality control points that require regular sampling. The Desktop Sentinel is compatible with current industry sampling methods, and user requirements mirror that of microbial culturing. The unit is equipped with a built-in optical reader and computer interface. Once avaliable, the Desktop Sentinel will provide a fully automated, all‐in‐one, turn‐key solution for evaluating foodborne contamination.
The Super-Slim Sentinel: This platform was designed for cost-effective applications in point-of-harvest facilities.
- The Super-Slim Sentinel: The Super‐Slim Sentinel is a sleek, low cost, compact design that incorporates our Sentinel technology for use in agricultural settings. Through deliberate material optimization, we’ve “slimmed” down this version, creating a food-safety assay that is less than a tenth of an inch thick. The Super-Slim Sentinel will be ideal for customers such as farmers, retailers, and consumers interested in protecting against foodborne contamination. Owing to its construction, the Super‐Slim Sentinel can be adapted for multiple placements within the food supply chain, to deliver quick, accurate microbial contaminant information.
The Multiplex Sentinel: This platform was designed to screen a single sample for multiple pathogens.
- The Multiplex Sentinel: The Multiplex Sentinel is designed to test for the presence of multiple pathogens simultaneously. Like the Cartridge Sentinel, the Multiplex Sentinel is compatible with current industry sampling methods. It employs sampling methods that mirror that of microbial culturing. The Multiplex Sentinel tests for multiple pathogens—with definitive test results within minutes. The Multiplex Sentinel will also be integrated with a computerized optical reader for automated data collection and recording purposes if required.
